U.S. propane marketers North Star Energy LLC (NSE) and Brooks Gas Co. recently became members of Alliance AutoGas, whose network comprises more than 120 independent propane marketers and authorized vehicle conversion centers throughout North America.

Based in Aberdeen, S.D., NSE services approximately 3,000 propane customers in South and North Dakota, providing propane bulk, cylinder, cylinder exchange and transport services for residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural uses.

“North Star Energy has been interested in the autogas industry for quite some time but did not really know how to get it all off the ground,” explains Terry Heinz, general manager at NSE. “After doing some research and contacting other Alliance members, we decided this would be a good fit for us.”

“NSE additionally needed to create a market for propane year-round instead of just counting on the drying and heating seasons,” continues Heinz. “This makes autogas a very key product to the continued success of our business and providing savings to our customers.”

Based in Marshfield, Mo., Brooks Gas Co. is a 60-year-old, full-service propane gas and appliance supplier.

“Brooks Gas and their entire fleet of vehicles have always operated on propane,” notes John Brooks, the company's vice president. “The innovations and improvements that Alliance Autogas has brought to our industry will make operating equipment and vehicles easier. We strongly believe that Alliance AutoGas will be able to increase public awareness of propane as a reliable source of autogas and allow our business to grow in new markets.”
