VIA’s Electric Vehicle Offerings Eligible for Chicago Vouchers

VIA Motors has announced that its extended-range electric vehicle (EV) offerings are eligible for vouchers under the Drive Clean Chicago program, which is designed to promote clean air and better business solutions in the Chicago area.

VIA employs an up-fitting manufacturing process to integrate its proprietary V-DRIVE powertrain into new OEM vehicles, then sells the vehicles directly to fleets under the VTRUX brand name.

To qualify for the Drive Clean Chicago program, the commercial vehicles must be used within Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties.

Currently, three program vouchers are available to boost the cost-effectiveness of a VIA VTRUX model. VIA Motors says its extended-range electric pickup is now eligible for a $41,200 voucher, while its extended-range electric passenger van can be purchased with a voucher for $39,460. The VIA Motors extended-range electric cargo van is also eligible for a voucher of $42,892.

VIA Motors notes that its vehicles are also eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit.
“Together with the voucher program and our federal tax credit, Chicago customers can reach savings of over $48,000,” says Gabriel Hern, VIA's regional sales manager. “For companies interested in adding trucks or vans to their fleets, this technology paired with this kind of savings is a very easy decision.’
