AeroVironment Inc., a company that offers electric transportation solutions such as electric vehicle (EV) charging systems and installation and data services, says it has appointed Tom Herring to the newly created position of chief operating officer.

Herring was previously senior vice president and general manager of AeroVironment's UAS business unit. As chief operating officer, he will focus on the planning and execution of the company's annual operating plan.

AeroVironment notes that more than 7,000 of its Level 2 EV charging systems have been deployed in 44 states and a number of Canadian provinces. Its networked fast-charging stations are also being used in many public locations.
