American Power Group Inc. (APG), a subsidiary of GreenMan Technologies Inc., is partnering with Linde North America to expand the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for APG-retrofitted dual-fuel diesel engines.

APG and Linde say they plan to work together to offer end-use customers safe and efficient solutions to employ LNG in various applications - mainly in the diesel trucks used on site at oil and gas drilling operations, as well as in horizontal and vertical drilling diesel generators and high-pressure-fracturing diesel pumps.

"APG is having notable success in converting diesel engines and diesel pumps with well-head and pipeline gas, but a majority of the rigs are not logistically close to these sources of fuel, so LNG makes perfect sense," says Lyle Jensen, president and CEO of GreenMan Technologies.

APG and Linde add that they will evaluate the expansion of LNG applications to other fields as the market grows. APG recently received approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to apply its dual-fuel conversion systems to a number of Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel engines.
