Emerald Automotive, a company that produces an extended-range hybrid-electric commercial van designed for fleet use, has appointed Jim McKelvey to its board of directors.

Emerald Automotive's t-001 vehicle uses a plug-in hybrid drivetrain to achieve more than 100 miles per gallon and a range of 475 miles per fueling, the company says.

McKelvey has founded several businesses, including Square Inc., Mira Digital Publishing and Third Degree Glass Factory. He will serve as a non-executive board member with Emerald Automotive.
