The Alberta provincial government is getting behind the conversion of fleet vehicles to natural gas in order to help boost the province's domestic natural gas industry.

According to the Calgary Herald, Premier Alison Redford was on hand at a conference on Tuesday where a natural gas strategy for Alberta was being discussed. The premier voiced support for promoting natural gas through a greater uptake of natural gas vehicles in the government fleet and among consumers.

Redford highlighted the "potential of widespread use of natural gas vehicles, which is something we're seeing as a growing trend in the United States," the Herald reported.
