Smith Electric Vehicles Corp., a company focused on the commercial vehicle sector, has appointed John F. Smith to its board of directors and named Robin Mackie president.

Smith brings more than five decades of experience in the auto and energy technology industries, including a 42-year career with General Motors. He served for 10 years as group vice president with responsibilities for sales and marketing, and product and business development.

Mackie is a founder and director of Smith U.S. and has served as Smith's chief technology officer and a member of the board of directors since January 2009. He will continue in his role as chief technology officer while assuming new responsibilities as president.
