Navistar has announced that it plans on using its In-Cylinder Technology Plus (ICT+) solution as a core component to meet 2010 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) emissions regulations.

ICT+ combines Navistar's existing exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) solutions with urea-based selective catalytic reduction (SCR) after-treatment technology. The company says the emissions platform will be incorporated into production models early next year.

"We've shared our new technology path with the EPA and California Air Resources Board, and both agencies are encouraged by our plans," says Daniel C. Ustian, the company's chairman, president and CEO.

Navistar says it will continue to "build and ship current model EPA-compliant trucks in all vehicle classes using combinations of earned emissions credits and/or non-compliance penalties during the transition to ICT+."
