The City of Pomona, Calif., has acquired 22 Mack TerraPro low-entry refuse vehicles that are powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). The purchase, which TEC Equipment Inc. coordinated, represents a 100% shift to alternative fuel for the city's solid-waste fleet.

"The City of Pomona is committed to reducing its environmental footprint," says Howard Morris, Pomona's solid waste manager. "We liked what Mack had to offer, especially its excellent reputation and the durability and reliability of its products."

The city ordered 20 TerraPro CNG side-loaders and two rear-loaders. The trucks, which are built in Macungie, Pa., are expected to be delivered in September.
