ROUSH CleanTech has tapped Green Alternative Systems (GAS) to install propane autogas fueling systems for fleet customers in the transit, paratransit and commercial ground transportation sectors.

GAS, an Elkhart, Ind.-based Qualified Vehicle Modifier for Ford Motor Co., will leverage its extensive sales and service platforms to spearhead ROUSH CleanTech system installations. The company performed more than 1,000 alternative fuel conversions last year.

"With minimum up-front cost, propane autogas conversions performed by Green Alternative Systems provide the ROI fleet operators are looking for," says Sean Connolly, general manager of GAS.

The buses - like one on display this week at the 2012 BusCon Expo - are built on a Ford E-450 chassis with a 6.8-liter, V10 engine and a 41-gallon propane fuel tank. The ROUSH CleanTech vehicle has met the criteria of the Federal Transit Administration's New Model Bus Testing Program and is certified for sale in all 50 states by the California Air Resources Board and Environmental Protection Agency.
