The California Energy Commission has unanimously approved the investment plan for the state's Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program for fiscal-year 2014-2015.

A report outlining the recommended funding levels was released a couple weeks ago.

‘The Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program invests in projects that are anticipated to spark innovation to transform California's transportation fleet,’ says Commissioner Janea A. Scott. ‘The plan the commission approved [will] guide investments toward projects that are intended to help California meet its climate and clean air goals.’

A big chunk of funding is $20 million for in-state biofuels production, as well as $20 million for hydrogen fueling projects and $15 million for charging infrastructure for plug-in electric vehicles. About $1.5 million will go toward natural gas refueling stations.
