PERC Taking Propane’s Clean-Fuel Message to Campuses

0

The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has joined the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), an association of colleges and universities that address various sustainability issues. For its part, PERC will inform institutions about the benefits of using propane-powered equipment on campuses nationwide.

‘Propane is the leading alternative fuel in the U.S. and helps thousands of businesses, fleets, contractors and consumers meet their economic and environmental goals,’ says PERC president and Roy Willis. ‘We want to help bring the same fuel-efficient technologies to campuses through equipment demonstrations, incentives and educational programs that will help AASHE members significantly reduce their carbon footprint and save money.’

AASHE provides specialized resources, professional development and a network for sharing information to help colleges and universities meet their sustainability goals. Propane can aid in these efforts by being used not only in light-duty vehicles and buses, but also lawn mowers and generators.

Through its AASHE membership, PERC plans to help campuses identify opportunities to convert gasoline- or diesel-fueled equipment to propane.
