New Mexico Utility Helping to Put CNG at Truck Stop

New Mexico Gas Co. will be spearheading the installation of public-access compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling capacity at an existing truck stop in Farmington, N.M.

The utility, which is a subsidiary of TECO Energy, has been working with the owners of Bubble City Truck Stop to add CNG to its facility on Bloomfield Highway, according to coverage from The Daily Times. This location is right on U.S. route 64 – a major east-west highway in the northern part of the state.

The Bubble City Truck Stop will be the only location in Farmington to offer public-access CNG refueling. In fact, there are currently fewer than a half-dozen CNG stations in all of New Mexico, and the nearest in the state to Farmington is in Santa Fe – some 200 miles away.

However, The Daily Times reported that New Mexico Gas Co. itself has ‘a number of CNG projects in the works.’
