Long Island’s CNG Station Network Is Expanding

0

The town of Islip, N.Y., is partnering with Clean Energy Fuels Corp. to build a new public-access compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station – the fourth that Clean Energy will own and operate on Long Island.

Prompting the CNG station development is a town mandate, effective Jan. 1, 2015, that requires all refuse trucks operating in Islip to be powered by CNG. Town officials anticipate that approximately 50 new heavy-duty natural gas vehicles will be deployed, representing the consumption of about 500,000 DGE of CNG annually.

Clean Energy built, owns and operates three other natural gas stations in Smithtown, Brookhaven and Huntington on Long Island.
