Renewable Energy Group Inc. says it is now producing renewable hydrocarbon diesel fuel at commercial-scale quantities at its new biorefinery in Geismar, La. Fuel sales to users such as heavy-duty trucking firms and marine companies have commenced.

‘REG-9000/RHD is a new addition to our fuel product line-up designed to serve our customers' needs for great fuel that also delivers towards our nation's energy diversity, environmental and food security goals,’ says Daniel J. Oh, president and CEO of REG.

The first truckloads of REG-9000/RHD produced at the 75-million gallon nameplate biorefinery left the plant last week. The advanced biofuel from Geismar, located south of Baton Rouge, meets or exceeds ASTM D975 specifications, the company says.

REG's process converts natural fats, oils and greases into advanced biofuels and converts diverse feedstocks into renewable chemicals. The company operates 10 biorefineries in the U.S.
