Indiana CNG Station Is Serving I-65 Class 8 Traffic

CNG Fuel Inc. recently opened its latest compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling site: a public-access, fast-fill station at 420 Stevens Way in Seymour, Ind.

Although the company proceeded with the project without anchor natural gas vehicle fleets to guarantee demand, CNG Fuel's Mike Reed tells NGT News that the firm was comfortable building the station on spec thanks largely to its strategic location off Interstate 65 – a major north-south route that runs from greater Chicago all the way to Interstate 10 on the Gulf Coast.

CNG Fuel began work on the company-owned facility last November, with design-build firm HP Legacy Inc. serving as the main contractor. Investor-owned utility Vectren supplies natural gas to the location from its distribution network.

The facility features a system packaged by CNG Source that includes Cameron compressors and a PSB Industries dryer. CNG Source built two dual-hose dispensers for the station.

CNG Fuel notes that CNG is currently retailing for $2.25/GGE at the new site.
