Fleet Initiates Medium-Duty Propane Vehicle Conversions

Baltimore-based H&S Bakery has rolled out its initial complement of propane autogas delivery vehicles, marking the beginning of what H&S expects to become a 10% penetration of propane in its 600-vehicle fleet by the end of 2016.

The company's new medium-duty propane vehicles are built off the Ford F-59 chassis and feature propane autogas systems from ROUSH CleanTech.

‘We want our customers and community to know that we are investing in them and working hard to meet our sustainability goals,’ says Chuck Paterakis, vice president of transportation and logistics for H&S Baking. ‘With propane autogas, we're doing just that, with a domestically produced fuel that lowers emissions across our delivery area.’

In addition to the vehicle conversions – which were funded in part by a grant from the Maryland Energy Administration – H&S Baking worked with AmeriGas to install an 18,000-gallon underground propane tank and associated refueling equipment on its own property in order to refuel the new fleet.
