New England Refuse Fleet Adding Compressed Natural Gas Station

0

Hartford, Conn.-based refuse and recycling company All Waste Inc. has selected TruStar Energy to build a time-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station to support its fleet of heavy-duty natural gas vehicles.

All Waste already operates 14 CNG-powered garbage trucks, and an additional 10 heavy-duty NGVs will be delivered soon. The overall fleet totals 80 vehicles, and the company is aiming to shift 60 of then to natural gas within a five-year period.

‘We'll be half way to that goal by July of 2015,’ says Bob Norton, operation manager for All Waste. ‘We'll continue to build from there.’

TruStar Energy will design and build the All-Waste-owned, private facility. A single 200 hp CNG compressor will initially supply 60 time-fill posts, but the station design will enable a second compressor to be added to ensure system redundancy.

The companies anticipate that the station will be operational by the end of this year.
