Texas County Fleet Pursuing Switch To Compressed Natural Gas

The commissioners' court in Harrison County, Texas, voiced unanimous approval of a plan to convert some of the county's public-works vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG).

According to a report in the Marshall News Messenger (Texas), the vote will allow the county to move forward with a grant application that could help provide financial support for the CNG conversions. Harrison County's road and bridge department is looking to use CNG in a number of its dump trucks.

"Our residents have been asking that we begin to make the switch to natural gas, and I personally believe the time has come to get involved," Harrison County Judge Hugh Taylor said.

The report also noted that a new CNG refueling station was being planned for the area.
