Heavy-Duty Hauler Accessing CNG at New Stations

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has opened two compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in Albuquerque, N.M., and Winslow, Ariz., to support Seaboard Foods' growing heavy-duty natural gas vehicle fleet.

The company's Seaboard Transport subsidiary will use the facilities in Albuquerque and Winslow – as well as public-access Clean Energy stations in California, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Virginia – as it moves food goods throughout the U.S.

‘Thanks to our fueling agreement with Clean Energy and their commitment to CNG stations along I-40, our first CNG-powered truck recently crossed into California, originating from our Oklahoma processing plant,’ says Gary Ruettgers, Seaboard Transport's operations manager. ‘Now, we have a gateway to the West for our CNG fleet.’

Seaboard's NGV fleet is expanding to about 60 Class 8 trucks – mainly Kenworth T800s with the Cummins Westport ISX12 G engine. Once the company's initial complement of NGVs is fully deployed, it will consume approximately 892,000 DGE of CNG annually, according to Clean Energy's estimates.
